Course Information:


Employability (EMPL) 1000:  Online Course - Open to All Foothills students    Sept. 22 - Oct. 20 ( 4 Weeks) 

This class can be a CTAE elective for one-half credit toward graduation!  It is a dual enrollment course requiring students to enroll in Southern Crescent Technical College before 9/22.  Topics for this class include human relations skills, job acquisition and communication, job retention and advancement, professional image, personal finance, problem-solving, and diversity.   This course is online with College faculty support and posted evening office hours.  Foothills teacher and mentor support is also provided at your site.  EMPL 1000 is required for many diploma offerings at the technical college.



Commercial Truck Driving - In person at  Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) Campus - Butts County 1578 Highway 16 West Jackson, GA 30233   Oct 2 - Dec. 12, 2023 (10 weeks) CDL Students are strongly encouraged to sign up for Employability (EMPL) 1000!


This course is not an Accelerated Career diploma path.

Classes dates and times:  Oct. 2 and Oct 9 at 6 pm for Student Orientation at Foothills Butts Site.  CDL instruction begins Oct. 19 for classes to meet EVERY evening, Monday -Friday, 4:30 - 10:00 pm at the SCTC Butts Campus. Students who complete the program will receive CTDL 1010, CTDL 1021 & CTDL 1031 (a total of nine college credit hours and three Carnegie units at Foothills).  Interested students must be 18, have a valid driver's license, a clean motor vehicle report, and pass a drug screen.  GPAs below a 2.0 are acceptable.


What you learn: Basic principles and skills of commercial truck operations with the administration of the Georgia CDL Skills exam.



Diesel Equipment Technology - In person at Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) Campus - Butts County 1578 Highway 16 West Jackson, GA 30233.   Spring Semester Start   January 8 - May 6, 2024.  Diesel Students are strongly encouraged to sign up for Employability (EMPL) 1000. 


THIS IS AN ACCELERATED CAREER GRADUATION PATH!  This program takes two semesters to earn two certificates required for an Accelerated Career Diploma.

Class Dates and Times: Butts SCTC Campus - 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Students who successfully complete this program will receive DIET 1000, DIET 1010 & (possibly) DIET 1030.  Students will finish the additional credits required for the second certificate in the following semester.  GPAs below a 2.0 are acceptable.


What you learn:  Truck, heavy equipment, marine, and emergency power generator repair theory and practical application for entry-level diesel equipment technician.
