AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN Act
The Foothills Regional High System will be receiving funds from the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. We would like the input of our stakeholders on how these funds should be used to offset negative effects on learning experiences as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Foothills Regional High System continually seeks input on our finalized plan for the use of ARP funds associated with the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief Act. Adjustments will be made to our plan based on stakeholder feedback.
AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN (ARP)
On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed into law the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA). ARPA makes available $122.8 billion nationally in a third round of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relied (ARP-ESER) funds.
This is a fact sheet released by the US Department of Education summarizing the differences between the ESSER funds released under CARES Act, the ESSER II funds released under the CRRSA Act, and ARP ESSER Funds.
Districts are required to seek community input on how these funds will be spent to support students. The Foothills Regional High System is prioritizing the use of ARP funds to support the District's strategic priorities in the following areas:
-
Hire Reading Interventionists and purchase high interest books to support struggling readers.
-
Hire additional teachers to lower the teacher/student ratio.
-
Provide tutoring services to students as needed.
-
Hire additional teachers and support personnel for students participating in virtual instruction.
-
Hire a Mental Health Coordinator, provide training on Mental Health First Aid, and provide direct Mental Health Counseling Services.
-
Supplemental material for the student Study Skills Course.
-
Hire a Safety Coordinator and additional school nurse personnel and purchase sanitation and cleaning supplies.
-
Purchase software to assess and monitor student learning and engagement.
You can provide input for any or all of these items by completing our survey here.
