Student Services Strategies that contribute to the Foothills Vision:
- One-on-one meaningful relationships between students and mentors that promote goal setting and attainment, positive school attendance, and meeting the social-emotional needs of students.
- Active career exploration and guidance by using You Science and deliberate, regular, and targeted conversations with students around their aptitudes and aspirations for post-secondary success.
- Careful high school course selection that moves students toward graduation while offering opportunities for Dual Enrollment, Work Based Learning, and Accelerated Career options.
- Timely social work services that seek to remove barriers to school attendance and academic achievement, especially for students experiencing homelessness, foster care, and other traumatic life events.
- Intentional regional support to identify, provide wrap-around support, assess, and monitor the needs of students experiencing homelessness and/or foster care.
- Implementing a comprehensive MTSS framework intended to support all students while attending to the physical and mental impairments that may limit a student’s major life activity by implementing thoughtful and updated 504 plans to meet student needs.
- Addressing student health needs through the implementation of preventative efforts and staff training as well as the implementation of detailed health plans for students with severe medical needs.
- Train adults on the mental health needs of students so that all Foothills staff are able to identify, support, and refer students in need of mental health support to help.
