Student Timelines

9th Grade:
  • Set goals for attendance and completion of courses.
  • Visit your counselor and register on Georgia Career Information System and GAFutures.
  • Complete the BRIDGE requirements for the 9th grade on the GCIS checklist.
  • Meet with your mentor weekly and work on your monthly calendar.
  • Join any clubs offered and attend monthly meetings.
  • Participate in college or workplace field trips throughout the year.
  • Attend College Night. 
  • Attend Career Night.
  • Work or volunteer to gain vocational experience.
10th Grade:
  • Set goals for attendance and completion of courses.
  • Visit your counselor and graduation coach to make sure you are on track to graduate.
  • Complete the BRIDGE activities for the 10th grade on the GCIS checklist.
  • Meet with your mentor weekly and work on your monthly calendar.
  • Join any clubs offered and attend monthly meetings.
  • Attend College Night.
  • Participate in college or workplace field trips throughout the year.
  • Take the PSAT in October.
  • Attend Career Night. 
  • Work or volunteer to gain vocational experience.
11th Grade:

  • Sign up to take the ASVAB this year.
  • Start researching colleges or technical schools.
  • Sign up to take the SAT/ACT (see the counselor for dates).
  • Sign up to visit a local technical college.
  • Join any clubs offered and attend monthly meetings.
  • Consider doing a Job Shadow to learn more about a career.
  • Investigate dual enrollment to earn post-secondary credits while at Foothills.
  • Attend College Night in October.
  • Participate in college or workplace field trips throughout the year.
  • Attend Career Night.
  • Work or volunteer to gain vocational experience.
  • Consider signing up for Work-based Learning.
12th Grade:
  • Set goals for attendance and completion of courses.
  • Visit your counselor and graduation coach to make sure you are on track to graduate.

  • Meet with your mentor weekly and work on your monthly calendar.
  • Get your senior t-shirt.
  • Sign up to take the ASVAB.
  • Start researching colleges or technical schools.
  • Sign up to take the SAT/ACT (see the counselor for dates).
  • Sign up to visit local technical colleges.
  • Join any clubs offered and attend monthly meetings.
  • Consider doing a Job Shadow to learn more about a career.

  • Start applying to colleges; visit campuses, if possible.

  • Complete FASFA application for government grants in January.

  • Order your class ring.
  • Complete all requirements for graduation (EOCT, ect.)
  • Work or volunteer to gain vocational experience
  • Order graduation announcements, caps and gowns, etc.
