July 2017 issue of The Foothills Review. We celebrated a series of graduations since the end of May to acknowledge the good work of students and staff. We look forward to attending Baldwin Foothills and Morgan Foothills graduations later this summer. We will also have one regional graduation on August 31 to acknowledge those students who needed a little extra time to complete their degree requirements during the summer. Graduations are important. It is a public way for students, staff, families, and communities to acknowledge this important milestone that can be life changing.
We welcome Phillips State Prison Foothills and Walton Foothills as they join our school. We are serving over 1600 students as either full time or credit recovery students. We now have 650 staff members servings students. We are proud of our work. We also know that we can continue to work to help students earn their degrees with a higher level of academic achievement. More importantly, we are working hard to help our students transition from high school to work, to college, and to life.
We are also quite excited about Coastal Plains Education Charter High School. Foothills staff have been working closely with school districts in south Georgia to establish another school to serve students. Foothills has provided resources, training, all of our materials, our experiences, and the most important gift - the gift of believing that all students deserve a second chance to earn a high school diploma. Coastal Plains will open In August/September in Candler, Glynn (Glynn Foothills became Glynn Coastal Plains on July 1), Long, Lowndes, Wayne, Vidalia. Ricky Rentz will serve as the superintendent of this new school.
We have a lot going on. We have many reasons to be proud. Celebrate with us as we move into year three of Foothills Education Charter High School.
